It's time to celebrate and honor your favorite Oakland-based businesses and artists at the 6th Annual Oakland Indie Awards!

The Oakland Indie Awards on May 31st is not your uncle’s business event. It’s a passionate and playful celebration of Oakland, of giving back, and of revolutionary ways to make the world a better place. The Indies are where the suits meet the tats.

The nominations have now closed for the 2012 Indie Awards. We received over 200 nominees this year! Find out who won at the party. The crowd you mingle with is as diverse as Oakland itself, derived partially from the City’s leaders who work every day to give back: the nonprofits, public officials, and socially-responsible financial (social venture capital, social capital) institutions, and partially from the extremely eclectic group of 200+ deeply community-minded businesses and artists who were nominated for awards.

Enjoy live drumming performances, a DIY cupcake bar, the People’s Bazaar marketplace,a life-sized Polaroid photo booth, a live mural, a cool (silent) auction, a curling demonstration (a what?!---come find out), and revolutionary art exhibit to activate the revolutionary in you. The Oakland Faders and the Oaktown Jazz Workshop will provide the music for your listening pleasure.

We hope that you’ll come out on THURSDAY (not Friday) May 31st to celebrate with us under the stars at the Kaiser Building rooftop garden!
