What is Oakland Unwrapped!?
Oakland Unwrapped! is a website of OneCalifornia Foundation, a non-profit organization in Oakland, CA. The purpose of website is to strengthen Oakland’s economy, preserve its unique character, and support its entrepreneurs and artists by helping people to support Oakland-owned enterprises when they shop. We love Oakland and want to provide a place where fellow Oakland-lovers can support the community while shopping online. Why shop on Amazon.com when you can shop online and support local families? What does Oakland Unwrapped! do?
- Hosts Oakland’s Online Marketplace – a website that sells products from
Oakland businesses and artists
- Provides e-commerce websites for Oakland businesses and artists. Each website is linked to the marketplace, and can have their own URL! See some example websites below.
- Markets and advertises Oakland businesses and artists
- Provides opportunities for home-based businesses
- Educates the community on the economic and social importance of
shopping locally-owned

How does it work?
- You list your product(s) on your new website hosted by Unwrapped!
and/or the Oakland Unwrapped! Marketplace
- Customers buy your product online with a secure credit card transaction
- You get an email alert telling you that an order has been placed and
payment approved
- You pack and ship the order to the customer (or the customer picks it up), within the timeframe you guarantee
- You get paid: Money is directly deposited in your account (pro account) OR Oakland
Unwrapped! writes you a check on the Friday following a 10-day return
period (basic account).

What If I Already Have A Website?
- You can use your Oakland Unwrapped! as your primary or secondary way of selling online. If you aren't currently selling on your website, you can link to your Unwrapped! store to sell online. If you are already selling online, use Unwrapped! as a another sales outlet.
- Switch your site over to Unwrapped! We can do a pretty good job of making your Unwrapped! site look like your existing site. Or change it up, if you like! There are no start up fees and very low monthly fees, so it might be worthwhile. Check out our list of benefits to having your store in the Unwrapped! marketplace, instead of just a regular site.

Will I Be Able to Use My Own Web Address (URL)?
Yes! If you are sign up to have your own store on Unwrapped, you can point any website name to it. You'll automatically have a URL with unwrapped in the name, such as http://oaklandunwrapped.org/funkystore, but you can also get your own name and just use and advertise that, such as www.funkystore.com.

How Do I Keep My Site Updated?
Once we set up your site template and your first few products, we will train you on how to update your site (it takes about 2 hours). You don't need to have special software or know much about websites to edit your site. You just log in to your special control panel website, change your text, upload your photos, and you're ready to go! If you really don't want to do the updates yourself, you can pay us to do it, but we think you can handle it. Let us know if you think otherwise.

How will I know when someone has placed an order?
You will receive an email with all of the order details.

Who Handles the Shipping?
You will prepare and ship all items to your customers. Shipping pricing and turn around times are up to you -- just state your policies on the website, and stick to them!

What About Returns?
Return policies are entirely up to you. Just like with shipping, you just need to state your policies on the website, and stick to them! If you offer a return period and we are handling your payment processing, we will pay you after the return period.

How Do I get Paid? How I Get Charged?
We will help you get up with a credit card processor. When a customer buys something on your site, the money will deposit directly into your bank account. Oakland Unwrapped! will charge service fees on the 5th of each month.
